All classes at The Lotus Dance Company are taught by highly trained instructors with a passion for performing arts.
Dress code for all classes:
Girls- Leotard and tights (Ballet), Dance tank top or shirt, stretch pants or shorts, hair secured away from face, appropriate shoes for each class.
Boys- T-shirt or tank top, stretch pants, athletic shorts, long hair secured away from face, appropriate shoes for each class.
Absolutely no denim, jewelry, chewing gum, sweatshirts or loose hair.
DO NOT wear dance shoes outside. Failure to follow dress code may result in student sitting out of class.
Ballet is the foundation for most modern day dance styles. We offer classic ballet training to all levels. In this class you will experience a variety of classic techniques including Italian and Russian ballet. Dancers will increase strength, poise, flexibility, and knowledge of the body. In all TLDC ballet classes, dancers are expected to learn and communicate with accurate ballet terminology.
Creative Ballet encourages dancers to create their own barre combinations in class with guidelines from the instructor. This class combines classic ballet technique with modern stretches and strengthening. This class is a perfect fit for individuals seeking to become well rounded dancers with the ability to think and create for themselves outside of class.
Pre-pointe is a perfect place to strengthen the entire body with emphasis on the feet, ankles, and core. It includes classic ballet technique with a focus on preparing dancers for pointe, as well as pointe training for dancers ages 12 and older who have taken ballet for at least 3 years and take 2 or more dance classes per week (including ballet).
Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary class supports dancers as they strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements
Here, you’ll enjoy Modern technique training while learning the elements of movement. In Modern we discuss the history of every generation of modern dance from the pioneers to post-modern and best of all, you’ll get to practice this rebellious, expressive genre.
Guided improvisation is one of the most innovative classes offered at TLDC. In this class, dancers find freedom and expression through movement. We use innovative concepts to expand thinking and push past ideas of limitations. Improv is the best place to become your own dancer, and more importantly, find yourself.
Students will be exposed to various styles of jazz such as Broadway, Street and Contemporary to help develop well rounded dancers.Jazz class will focus on learning proper dance technique such as isolations of the body, improving performance quality and developing complex rhythms and patterns. At TLDC we also emphasize the history of jazz dance, and study classic techniques by Matt Mattox, Jerome Robbins, and many others.
Musical Theatre introduces students to the songs of Broadway Musicals. Classes consist of a brief warm-up, learning the repertoire of Broadway show tunes, acting and staging techniques. This course is devoted to the enjoyment of musical theatre and an appreciation for Broadway musical productions.
Tap is a style of American theatrical dance, distinguished by percussive footwork and rhythms. Our tap classes stress the basics of tap while also teaching musicality and rhythm, as well as increasing strength and stability in the lower body and core.
Hip-hop is based on street dance and video/commercial dance. It combines lyrical jazz, artistic interpretation and hip hop. Focus is placed on style and technique. Dancers increase stamina, musicality, and control when consistently attending hip hop.
Acro is not the typical tumbling or gymnastics class. Learn the basics or work on advancing your skills in this multi-level class. Our experienced acro instructor will guide each student towards increased flexibility, balance, strength, muscle control, discipline and concentration
Up to level 4. Our tumble classes emphasize overcoming fears, strengthening the body, utilizing your dance technique in skills, and increasing stamina. Students will work to perfect, then advance every skill learned in class, so that there is consistent progression.
Children ages 18-36 months learn basic dance steps and terminology through songs, stories, and play. This creative movement class allows the parent or guardian to actively participate in simple stretches, locomotor exercises and games with their child.
Suitable for children ages 3-5. "Buds" will be taught basic Ballet, Jazz and tumbling skills and terminology. This class consists of fun warm up games, across the floor exercises, time on the tumbling mats and always ends with a creative improvisation DANCE PARTY!
Build strength and increase flexibility through contemporary barre and center exercises.
Increase endurance and coordination with classic jazz isolations, technique, and choreography.
Use your improvisation and acting abilities while exploring the various styles Broadway dance has to offer.
Find your rhythm in the classic theatrical art form of tap dance. Focused on musicality and balance. Tap shoes are not immediately required to try this class.
Adult students will learn the fundamentals of ballet while developing strength, balance, flexibilty, alignment and building confidence.
